The REELTIME film and discussion  series ended its 2010 Spring season with a screening of the new documentary I KNOW A WOMAN LIKE THAT.  A capacity crowd filled the Evanston Public Library’s community room and enthusiastically greeted filmmaker Elaine Madsen, who had traveled from California to Evanston for this event.

Directed by Elaine Madsen, a former Evanstonian, and produced by her Academy Award nominated daughter Virginia Madsen, I KNOW A WOMAN LIKE THAT presents intimate and enlightening conversations with a group of inspiring older women, ages 64 to 94.  From Eartha Kitt, Rita Moreno, and Gloria Steinem to
Evanston's former Mayor Lorraine Morton, I KNOW A WOMAN LIKE THAT profiles older women who are not ready to retire but are passionately engaged in life.  Co-presented with Evanston’s Aging Well Conference.

Support independent film in your community!

Percolator Films is a new 501c3 non-profit film organization that brings great documentaries and discussions to Evanston through the free REELTIME series.  We also organize The Talking Pictures Festival, an exciting new cultural event that draws audience members from the North Shore and beyond.  As a non-profit, we do all of this on a shoestring budget with much volunteer support.

But now we need YOUR help – our funders have all suffered budget cuts, which has drastically affected our already very slim budget.  We need your support to sustain REELTIME and the film festival.  Please give generously – your tax-deductible donation is an important investment in the cultural fabric of our community!

2010 TALKING PICTURES FESTIVAL

More than 1,100 film enthusiasts attended the 2010 Talking Pictures Festival, the North Shore’s only independent film festival. Filmmakers traveled from near and far to Evanston to speak with fest audiences after their screenings.

“What a wonderful experience the Talking Pictures Festival was!  It totally lived up to its

name, I think it is a really great forum for art and community to come together.  The shared experience of a film, and then being able to discuss it right away with a group is so important.”  – Laura Israel, Windfall filmmaker

Due to funding cuts, REELTIME has to take a long summer break.  Please check back in the fall, when we plan to bring you new film selections, albeit on a more infrequent basis.
