Since 1999, REELTIME INDEPENDENT FILM AND VIDEO FORUM has hosted monthly free film screenings and discussions in Evanston. For the first ten years of its existence, REELTIME was directed by a team of independent filmmakers under the fiscal umbrella of the Evanston Public Library.  REELTIME became a program of the non-profit Percolator Films in 2010.  While REELTIME is best known as a film series, we have simultaneously built an extensive circulating collection of independent films that are available for checkout at the Evanston Public Library. This is known as the REELTIME Collection.

The REELTIME Collection currently holds well over 200 titles, with documentaries constituting the lion’s share of the collection.

For a small fee, library patrons can check out award-winning independent films that cover a wide range of subjects and are for the most part not available at commercial video rental stores.
