TYPEFACE
Directed by Justine Nagan, Kartemquin Films

In a time when people carry computers in their pockets and watch TV while walking down the street, Justine Nagan's new documentary TYPEFACE (2009, 60 min) explores the twilight of an analog craft that freshly inspires artists in a digital age. TYPEFACE, Kartemquin Films' (Hoop Dreams) latest documentary on art and society, asks: what is the responsibility of artists and historians to preserve a dying craft? How can rural towns survive in a shifting industrial marketplace where big-box retailers are king?
With Chicago filmmaker Justine Nagan in person.
Wed, May 12 - 7pm • Evanston Public Library
