THROW DOWN YOUR HEART

Thur, Nov 18 • 7PM • $8 admission at the door

Sascha Paladino’s THROW DOWN YOUR HEART (2008, 97 min.) follows American banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck on his journey to Africa to explore his instrument's little known African roots.  Béla’s musical adventures lead him to Uganda, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Mali.  Along the way, he works with a wide array of musicians – from local villagers to international world music superstars such as the Malian diva Oumou Sangare.  As Béla travels
across Africa, he forges both musical and personal connections.  Using his banjo, he transcends barriers of language and culture, finding common ground with musicians from very different backgrounds and creating some of the most meaningful music of his career.
